What is Charlie's Dream?
Chocolate teas are not uncommon at all, and they are all going to have a chocolate flavour no matter which blend you choose. But each blend will also be different. What sets them apart are the ingredients that will significantly influence flavour, intensity and scent.
Blended with rich black tea, cocoa, chocolate pieces and Oompa Loompas favourites, cocoa bean nibs, Charlie's Dream is tea made specially for chocolate lovers. This pretty blend has a deep, intense scent of rich cocoa dipped into a strong black tea base. Rather than from the flavourings, scent in this tea comes from the actual ingredients – mostly cocoa husks and nibs. It's clean, but reminiscent of the richest cocoa drink you can imagine.
Cocoa husks can actually be used on its own to make a cup of tea too, also called cacao tea, a tea common in Latin America. What's also interesting about this blend is the fact that all ingredients contain theobromine. Theobromine is a compound that may help boost mood and alertness (1), and is present in cocoa bean and cocoa bean products and black tea. This tea also contains caffeine from black tea leaves and cocoa nibs.
How does is taste ike?
To make a cup of Charlie's dream tea, use one teaspoon of tea leaves per cup of freshly boiled water and steep it for 3-5 minutes. Chocolate teas usually go well with condiments such as milk and sugar, but this tea is great on its own. It has a beautiful dark red brown colour and a deep chocolate flavour with a lighter black tea base which makes it great for making a proper milk tea or even a tea mocha by adding some chocolate syrup. There's no bitterness in this tea which will be a great benefit for all tea drinkers that like to enjoy tea pure.
Charlie's Dream is a chocolaty, but light delight that would appeal to both people that like pure and flavoured teas. It's a great tea for afternoon tea parties and for daily drinking or making flavoured tea lattes.
