<p>Flavoured <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/matcha/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with matcha">matcha</a> powders are a perfect option if you either can&#8217;t get used to drinking pure matcha or like tasting different flavours. While flavouring matcha is a novelty trend, rather than tradition, Vanilla Matcha tea from Vahdam feels like a truly classical blend.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s in Vanilla Matcha?</h2>

<p>Vanilla Matcha is a tea powder blended with Japanese matcha tea from Shizuoka and Madagascar vanilla. Shizuoka is the largest tea producing prefecture in Japan, however, most of the tea produced is sencha. Many matcha powders from Shizuoka that are available in western countries are of the culinary grade that are perfect for blending with other powders. Culinary grade matcha is typically used for baking or preparing different drinks.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-matcha-jpg.webp" alt="vanilla matcha tea Vahdam" class="wp-image-3969" style="width:550px" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-matcha-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-matcha-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-matcha-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-matcha-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-matcha-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-matcha-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Vanilla Matcha powder from Vahdam is a culinary grade matcha too. It&#8217;s best used for non-traditional drinks, such as lattes, iced teas with or without <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/milk/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with milk">milk</a>, or for baking. This matcha has a beautiful vanilla scent that&#8217;s so strong it will fill the entire room. If you love the scent of vanilla, you&#8217;ll love this tea too. Another significant benefit is that it doesn&#8217;t contain any artificial or natural flavourings or colour, only pure powders. Powder itself is slightly darker and not as intensely green as most pure ceremonial grade matcha teas, however, it&#8217;s worth keeping in mind it&#8217;s blended with another powder. That said, vanilla powder will influence not only the flavour, but the colour too.  </p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to prepare Vanilla Matcha?</h2>

<p>You can use flavoured matcha powders for making different drinks such as hot or cold lattes or iced teas. Although you can prepare this powder traditionally, it won&#8217;t froth so much when using a chasen. In that case, an electric hand frother may be a better option. It will create lots of foam that won&#8217;t disappear so fast.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-jpg.webp" alt="Vahdam matcha" class="wp-image-3971" style="width:550px" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Vanilla Matcha is an unsweetened tea that feels sweet because of vanilla. It has a wonderful balance of <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/green-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with green tea">green tea</a> bitterness and vanilla sweetness and is great for tea drinkers that want something a bit different, but still with no natural or artificial flavourings.</p>

<p>The best way to use it is perhaps for making matcha lattes or boba teas. Prepared with full fat milk, it will offer just the right amount of sweetness. If you enjoy sweeter teas, some honey or regular sugar are a wonderful choice.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-green-tea-jpg.webp" alt="matcha vanilla " class="wp-image-3972" style="width:550px" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-green-tea-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-green-tea-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-green-tea-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-green-tea-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-green-tea-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/vahdam-vanilla-matcha-green-tea-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Since vanilla matcha from Vahdam is blended with culinary grade matcha, it&#8217;s better for baking or making lattes than for preparing tea traditionally. However, this doesn&#8217;t mean you can&#8217;t enjoy it pure.  </p>

<p>Vanilla is quite dominant in this blend, blending nicely with bitter and green taste of this matcha powder. It&#8217;s not as vibrant, sweet or complex as some ceremonial grades Japanese matcha teas, but it has a perfect amount of sweetness, matcha grassiness and an incredible vanilla aroma.</p>

<p>This is a great tea if you want to include matcha into your tea routine but can&#8217;t quite get used to the matcha flavour. It&#8217;s also amazing for lattes or different desserts. And if you love vanilla, you will absolutely love it.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

Some with have more pronounced vanilla notes, some more sweetness and some will be robust. Most vanilla blends contain only a few ingredients, but there are teas that may have more. The more ingredients a tea will have, the less pronounced vanilla flavour will be. One is true though, there is a perfect <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/vanilla-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with vanilla tea">vanilla tea</a> bled for everyone. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Giddy Up Buttercup contains black tea, sunflower and calendula petals and natural flavourings. It&#8217;s intended to be more buttery than your average vanilla blend. Sunflower and calendula petals make this blend really pretty and elegant. This tea smells sweet, deep, with buttery vanilla note. Vanilla doesn&#8217;t overpower the deep black tea notes, it&#8217;s incorporated into the tea base and adds deep sweetness instead.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What does Giddy Up Buttercup taste like?</h2>

<p>To make a cup of Giddy Up Buttercup tea, steep one teaspoon of tea leaves in a cup of freshly boiled water for 3 minutes. This is a strong and brisk tea that may turn bitter if you over-steep it. Therefore, if you prefer strong flavours or want to use it for latte, use more tea leaves rather than increased steeping time.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/giddy-up-buttercup-tea-jpg.webp" alt="vanilla black tea" class="wp-image-3707" style="width:550px" width="550" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/giddy-up-buttercup-tea-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/giddy-up-buttercup-tea-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/giddy-up-buttercup-tea-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/giddy-up-buttercup-tea-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/giddy-up-buttercup-tea-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/giddy-up-buttercup-tea-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Brewed tea has an uncommonly pretty orange-red colour that&#8217;s translucent with no murkiness. It has a dose of freshness, vanilla buttery notes and a bit of light smokiness. It&#8217;s a sharp black tea, with crispiness and freshness, one you&#8217;d like to drink in the afternoons, rather than mornings. The scent is exactly the same as the flavour. It&#8217;s aromatic but light, with very light astringency common for brisk black teas and mellow vanilla notes.</p>

<p>Giddy Up Buttercup is very easy to drink, and it&#8217;s not heavy at all. Because of its lightness and warmth, it feels perfect for the transitioning period from summer to <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/autumn/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with autumn">autumn</a>. This tea doesn&#8217;t need a sweetener, but it would go really well with some lighter honey or light brown sugar.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>When you add <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/milk/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with milk">milk</a>, it has a beautiful light orange-brown colour. It&#8217;s so pretty, you will want to add milk every time. Milk enhances creamy notes and softens the briskness. This tea would be amazing for afternoon tea parties and quiet tea times when you want to enjoy a cup of aromatic tea. Who would like this tea? If you love Sri Lankan teas or brisker Nilgiri teas.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is white tea in tea bags good?</h2>

<p>White tea is one of the most interesting types of tea. Partially because many of them have a very light and delicate flavour, partially because a good one is often difficult to find. This type of tea is not as common as green, oolong or <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with black tea">black tea</a>, and is not as often available in traditional tea bags as other tea types.</p>

<p>One reason is that 2 of the most popular types need to have a specific leaf shape. For example, Silver Needle is made purely of tea buds covered in fine white hair. White Peony will have tea buds, stalks and leaves. But what really makes white tea a white tea is the production process. It includes fewer steps than making other types and results in a unique flavour profile.</p>

<p>Now let&#8217;s get back to Strawberry and Vanilla white tea from Basilur.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s in Strawberry and Vanilla White tea?</h2>

<p>Strawberry and Vanilla white tea from Basilur is available as loose leaf and in tea bags. Loose leaf blend contains unbroken leaves, jasmine flowers, rose petals and strawberries. Tea bags are made of white tea and vanilla and strawberry flavourings. Since traditional tea bags contain fannings and dust, they will always brew into a stronger tea, often with bitter notes. That&#8217;s why white tea is usually better than loose tea. Usually, but not always.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-jpg.webp" alt="Strawberry and vanilla Basilur tea bags" class="wp-image-3582" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-jpg.webp 1024w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-300x200.webp 300w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-768x512.webp 768w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-450x300.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-225x150.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-900x600.webp 900w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-20x13.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/vanilla-strawberry-basilur-144x96.webp 144w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>So, is this tea different?</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What does Strawberry and Vanilla white tea taste like?</h2>

<p>To make a cup of tea, bring fresh water to a boil and let it cool for a few minutes. Although white tea is gentle, you can still use a slightly hotter water and steep it for 2-3 minutes.</p>

<p>Basilur&#8217;s Strawberry and <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/vanilla-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with vanilla tea">Vanilla tea</a> smells lovely. It&#8217;s as close to strawberries and cream as a tea could be. It&#8217;s quite a surprise for a tea in a traditional tea bag to taste this light and natural.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Flavour is lighter than scent, with no bitterness or deep hay notes. Strawberry flavour is very light though. The best description would be that this is a delicately flavoured vanilla white tea with hints of strawberry and cream flavour. This tea doesn&#8217;t need any condiments, and it&#8217;s best served with no <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/milk/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with milk">milk</a>. It leaves the same lovely light aftertaste. It&#8217;s suitable for making an <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/iced-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with iced tea">iced tea</a> too.</p>

<p>Strawberry and Vanilla white tea is a perfect choice for daily drinking at home or in the office, as it&#8217;s very easy to make and tastes light and lovely. If you love lightly flavoured white teas, this tea is a brilliant choice. Even if you drink only loose tea, there&#8217;s a very high chance you&#8217;ll like this one too.</p>

<p>Thai <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/iced-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with iced tea">iced tea</a> is one of the most popular <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/milk/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with milk">milk</a> teas in the world. This refreshing iced tea is more flavour than regular iced <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with black tea">black tea</a>, sweeter and more aromatic. Find out what&#8217;s the secret behind its vividly orange colour and delicious flavour AND, how to make it at home even if you don&#8217;t have a Thai Iced Tea mix.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is Thai Iced Tea?</h2>

<p>Thai iced tea is a <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/milk-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with milk tea">milk tea</a> originating from Thailand. It&#8217;s actually a very simple iced tea. Part of its charm lies exactly in its simplicity. It&#8217;s also one of the easiest milk teas to make at home that can taste as authentic as it would from a Thai restaurant. And the reason for this is very simple – you can use a Thai Tea Mix.</p>

<p>Thai Iced tea is made with black tea and milk, sugar and vanilla.</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t have a Thai tea mix, you can still make an authentic tasting drink. However, it may not be as vividly orange. There&#8217;s a solution to that too, and we&#8217;ll come to this soon.</p>

<p><b>What makes Thai Iced tea different from other popular milk teas?</b></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>It&#8217;s always served over ice</li>

<li>It&#8217;s always made with vanilla and black tea</li>

<li>It doesn&#8217;t contain a layer of froth</li>

<li>There&#8217;s no pulling method like with chai, Hong Kong milk tea or Teh Tarik</li>

<li>Unlike others, colour is enhanced with food colouring</li>

<li>There&#8217;s a special pre-made mix, so you don&#8217;t need to make it from a scratch</li>
</ul>

<p>Now that you know what Thai iced tea is, let&#8217;s see which ingredients you&#8217;ll need to make this delicious drink at home.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Two ways of making Thai Iced Tea</h2>

<p>There are two ways you can make Thai Iced tea:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>With a pre-made Thai Tea mix</li>

<li>Without a pre-made Thai Tea mix using pure black tea leaves</li>
</ul>

<p>Whichever way you choose, you can get a perfectly delicious drink. Brewing method, temperature and steeping time will all stay the same, regardless of which basic ingredients you are using. However, having a pre-made Thai Tea mix can definitely save you some time and you can have it in a matter of minutes.</p>

<p>So, what exactly is a Thai Tea mix?</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s in Thai Tea Mix?</h2>

<p>Thai Tea Mix is a flavoured and sometimes sweetened black tea made specifically for brewing Thai Iced tea. It&#8217;s not an instant tea though, so you will need to steep it.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s made with very small broken black tea leaves, vanilla food flavouring and food colouring and sometimes sugar. Even the types that contain sugar, won&#8217;t be overly sweet and you will probably need to add more – unless you prefer unsweetened drinks.</p>

<p>What&#8217;s important to mention is that if you want to avoid artificial colourings, it may be better to make Thai milk tea from a scratch. Colouring used in Thai Tea Mix is Sunset Yellow FCF, also known as E110 in Europe that may be linked to some health concerns.  </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-mix-jpg.webp" alt="Thai tea mix" class="wp-image-3103" width="500" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-mix-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-mix-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-mix-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-mix-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-mix-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-mix-64x96.webp 64w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-mix-600x900.webp 600w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><a href="https://amzn.to/40lDPa0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>Number One Thai Tea Mix</em></a></figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Since tea leaves in Thai Tea mix are very small, they will infuse into a bolder tea than you would typically get from unbroken tea leaves. If you are using a substitute, choose teas that are small as well. These types of teas are quite common among loose tea leaves in supermarkets, while teas from specialty tea stores will mostly have larger leaves.</p>

<p><a href="https://amzn.to/40lDPa0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Thai Tea mix is available on Amazon</a> and from many Asian grocery stores. One bag of tea will be enough to make at least 100-200 glasses of Thai Iced tea. This blend is also available in <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/tea-bags/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with tea bags">tea bags</a>. </p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td><iframe sandbox="allow-popups allow-scripts allow-modals allow-forms allow-same-origin" style="width:120px;height:240px;" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-eu.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;OneJS=1&amp;Operation=GetAdHtml&amp;MarketPlace=GB&amp;source=ss&amp;ref=as_ss_li_til&amp;ad_type=product_link&amp;tracking_id=allthattea-21&amp;language=en_GB&amp;marketplace=amazon&amp;region=GB&amp;placement=B00712N6II&amp;asins=B00712N6II&amp;linkId=53e614db7e9df1fc5eb9e48428ceec21&amp;show_border=false&amp;link_opens_in_new_window=true" frameborder="0"></iframe></td><td><iframe sandbox="allow-popups allow-scripts allow-modals allow-forms allow-same-origin" style="width:120px;height:240px;" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-eu.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&amp;OneJS=1&amp;Operation=GetAdHtml&amp;MarketPlace=GB&amp;source=ss&amp;ref=as_ss_li_til&amp;ad_type=product_link&amp;tracking_id=allthattea-21&amp;language=en_GB&amp;marketplace=amazon&amp;region=GB&amp;placement=B00JY47Y6Q&amp;asins=B00JY47Y6Q&amp;linkId=6c2968f70697f03ea1ed58f7b4dd7662&amp;show_border=false&amp;link_opens_in_new_window=true" frameborder="0"></iframe></td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is Thai Iced Tea the same as Thai Milk tea?</h2>

<p>Thai Iced tea is always made with milk, so we can technically call is a Thai Milk tea too. However, what&#8217;s nowadays considered a milk tea is a tea served with boba pearls. To make Thai Milk tea, simply add brown sugar boba pearls into your tea – it will taste absolutely delicious.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Much Sugar for Thai Iced Tea?</h2>

<p>Thai iced tea is typically really sweet. Pre-made Thai iced tea mix already contains some sugar, but most of the sweetness comes from condensed milk and sugar that&#8217;s added later. Some recipes will require you to use almost 6 teaspoons of sugar per cup of tea, while others will recommend less. It&#8217;s likely that you will need to add more sweetness, but start with 1-2 teaspoons and adjust later.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Thai Iced Tea Calories</h2>

<p>Given all the sweetness and milkiness, Thai iced tea may also be calorie rich. When making it at home, you can adjust the sweetness and add more or less condensed milk, thus change the calorie content.</p>

<p>Some Thai tea blends will already contain sugar, but that amount will usually be negligible. This means you may only get a couple of calories per 1-2 teaspoons of tea mix.</p>

<p>Next, each teaspoon of white granulated sugar will add 15-20 calories (depending on how much you scoop out) and a tablespoon of condensed milk will provide an additional 60 calories. A tablespoon of half and half will add 1/3 of that, same as evaporated milk. Since condensed milk already contains sugar, it will add more calories to your tea than evaporated milk.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-milk-tea-jpg.webp" alt="thai iced tea" class="wp-image-3101" width="500" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-milk-tea-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-milk-tea-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-milk-tea-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-milk-tea-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-milk-tea-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-milk-tea-64x96.webp 64w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-milk-tea-600x900.webp 600w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Ingredients You Will Need</h2>

<p>To make this delicious, iced tea at home you will need either:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Thai Tea mix + condensed milk + water + ice + sugar</li>

<li>Black tea leaves + condensed milk + water + ice + vanilla flavouring + sugar</li>
</ul>

<p>Following recipes are for one serving of iced tea, so multiply the ingredients with the number of glass you want to make.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Make Thai Iced Tea with Thai Tea Mix</h2>

<p><b>To make Thai Iced Tea with Thai Tea Mix:</b></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>1-2 teaspoons of Thai Tea mix</li>

<li>2 teaspoons of sugar or more</li>

<li>A cup of water</li>

<li>1 tablespoon of condensed milk</li>

<li>1-2 tablespoons of evaporated milk or half-and-half</li>

<li>Ice</li>
</ul>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p><b>Instructions</b></p>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1">
<li>Steep tea leaves in 200 ml of freshly boiled water for about 5 minutes. Alternatively, you can simmer the tea leaves in a saucepan, which is a preferred way of making <a href="https://allthattea.com/homemade-masala-chai-recipe/">Indian chai tea</a>. It will give a stronger tea, but it may also extract more bitterness. If you don&#8217;t mind balancing out the bitter notes with extra sugar, simmering is a better option.</li>

<li>Fill a tall glass with ice.</li>

<li>Strain the tea into a glass.</li>

<li>Add sugar and stir until fully dissolved. Unlike honey, sugar will easily dissolve in cold drinks.</li>

<li>Add condensed milk and evaporated milk or half-and-half and stir.</li>
</ol>

<p><strong> </strong>What if you don&#8217;t have a Thai tea mix or you don&#8217;t want to use a tea mix with colourings? You can still enjoy this delicious tea by using simple pure black tea and adding only one extra ingredient &#8211; vanilla.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Make Thai Iced Tea Without Thai Tea Mix</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-jpg.webp" alt="black milk tea" class="wp-image-3102" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-jpg.webp 1024w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-300x200.webp 300w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-768x512.webp 768w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-450x300.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-225x150.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-900x600.webp 900w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-20x13.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-144x96.webp 144w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/thai-iced-tea-600x400.webp 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>You can make Thai Iced tea without food colouring and still enjoy the same delicious drink. That&#8217;s because the food colouring will add the colour only, and not the flavour.</p>

<p><b>However, these tips will help you get a nicer colour:</b></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Choose broken Ceylon orange pekoe tea leaves or Nilgiri broken tea instead of Assam tea – they are likely to brew into a colour that&#8217;s closer to the original Thai tea</li>

<li>Use condensed milk rather than regular milk – it will not dilute your tea like regular milk, keeping it vibrant and creamy</li>

<li>Use more tea leaves – more tea leaves mean deeper colour</li>
</ul>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p><b>To make Thai Iced tea without the Thai tea mix you will need:</b></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>1-2 teaspoons of black tea leaves</li>

<li>2 teaspoons of sugar or more</li>

<li>A cup of water</li>

<li>1 tablespoon of condensed milk</li>

<li>1-2 tablespoons of coffee creamer, evaporated milk or half and half</li>

<li>½ &#8211; 1 teaspoon of vanilla flavouring</li>

<li>Ice</li>
</ul>

<p>Follow the steps for making Thai Iced tea with a pre-made mix, and simply add vanilla flavouring once the tea is steeped.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Adding Milk Instead of Condensed Milk</h2>

<p>While you can add different milk or milk-alternative, keep in mind that the result will be different. Condensed milk, evaporated milk, coffee creamer, canned coconut milk and half-and-half all have a much higher fat percentage than regular whole milk or barista style milk alternatives. You will need to add more for a creamy flavour and the drink will be more diluted. This, of course, doesn&#8217;t mean it will taste bad, just different. If you want to add milk, triple the quantity and use barista style milk or full fat dairy milk.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Additional Tips for the Perfect Thai Iced Tea</h2>

<p>Here are a few additional tips to take your drink from good to great:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1">
<li><b>Steep your tea longer:</b> To get the perfect bold tea base, steep tea leaves for 5 minutes and use more tea leaves. While the packaging suggests using 2 grams per cup of water, you can use two teaspoons instead of one.</li>

<li><b>Choose the right tea:</b> Thai milk tea, or any milk tea, is usually made with stronger broken tea leaves, such as Assam or some types of Ceylon tea. Thai Tea mix has small broken leaves that infuse into a stronger base.</li>

<li><b>Mix two types of milk:</b> Condensed milk is usually sweetened, so if you want to add more milkiness and creaminess, add some evaporated milk, coffee creamer or half-and-half instead. That is, unless you prefer a very sweet tea!</li>

<li><b>Make it vegan:</b> To make a vegan Thai Iced tea replace condensed milk with a vegan coffee creamer. You can also use a regular non-dairy barista milk, or a creamy canned coconut milk.</li>

<li><b>Make it all natural: </b>You can intensify the colour by adding organic food colourings that are made from natural ingredients. Try to avoid powders such as turmeric or saffron, because they will significantly impact the flavour. Also, you can use the real organic vanilla paste instead of regular vanilla flavourings.</li>
</ol>

<p>Vanilla teas are not a novelty. In fact, they may even seem boring, especially if you are on the quest to find the most unique and unusual teas. But The Pinup, vanilla <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with black tea">black tea</a> blend from The <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/tea-and-the-gang/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Tea and the Gang">Tea and the Gang</a> is far from boring. This tea is so interesting and different, it will make you change the way you look at “common” classic tea blends for good.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-jpg.webp" alt="The Pinup loose tea - Tea and the Gang" class="wp-image-2754" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-jpg.webp 1024w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-jpg-600x400.webp 600w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-300x200.webp 300w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-768x512.webp 768w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-450x300.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-225x150.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-900x600.webp 900w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-20x13.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-leaves-144x96.webp 144w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is Vanilla Black Tea?</h2>

<p></p><p>Usually, a vanilla black tea is a simple black tea blend with vanilla flavourings. Some blends may contain other ingredients too, but they will always have a recognizable sweet flavour. Pretty much like earl grey always has a recognizable bergamot flavour.</p>
<p>Most vanilla blends have a very strong flavour blended into a malty black tea base. Because of their robust body and intense flavour, they are often great as breakfast blends and taste great with different condiments. In other words, when you are buying a vanilla black tea, you may have a fairly good idea of what to expect even.</p>

<p>But the Pinup from The Tea and a Gang is far from a typical vanilla blend and you see that immediately after opening the pouch. It&#8217;s blended with Sri Lankan black tea, jasmine flowers, calendula petals, real vanilla pieces and flavourings. Vanilla pieces are not that common in vanilla black tea blends at all. All these ingredients create a beautiful blend with long and thin, twisted black tea leaves interwind with beautiful yellow petals with an intense, sweet scent and hints of buttermilk.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/the-pinup-black-tea-jpg.webp" alt="The Pinup black tea - Tea and the Gang" class="wp-image-2751" width="500" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/the-pinup-black-tea-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/the-pinup-black-tea-jpg-600x900.webp 600w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/the-pinup-black-tea-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/the-pinup-black-tea-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/the-pinup-black-tea-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/the-pinup-black-tea-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/the-pinup-black-tea-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p><em>Sri Lankan teas are amazing for afternoon tea times when you want to enjoy a light and refreshing flavour with no condiments.</em></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What does it taste like?</h2>

<p>Base of this blend is Sri Lankan black tea, which is fresher, crisper and lighter than Assam teas. What&#8217;s great about black teas is that you don&#8217;t need to be careful about the water temperature. With this blend, you don&#8217;t need to be careful about steeping time either. Use 1-2 teaspoons of tea leaves per cup of water and steep for 3-5 minutes.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-the-pinup-jpg.webp" alt="Vanilla black tea" class="wp-image-2755" width="500" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-the-pinup-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-the-pinup-jpg-600x900.webp 600w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-the-pinup-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-the-pinup-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-the-pinup-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-the-pinup-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/vanilla-black-tea-the-pinup-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>This tea is a true definition of a gentle dessert blend. You can over-brew it and it still won&#8217;t show any bitterness. It brews into a lighter brown tea with an incredible scent and flavour that&#8217;s light, not overpowering, but sweet with hints of honeycomb. The Pinup is as natural as a <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/vanilla-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with vanilla tea">vanilla tea</a> can be and quite complex. It doesn&#8217;t need any condiments – in fact, condiments would take away a part of the experience. But if you&#8217;d still prefer to add something, both <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/milk/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with milk">milk</a> and honey or brown sugar are great choices.</p>

<p>Who would like this blend? Tea drinkers that enjoy sophisticated blends with complex flavours and want to enjoy pure teas. This is not a bold and strong breakfast blend – it&#8217;s a tea to enjoy with all your senses. It&#8217;s a tea to sip and relax, so an afternoon would be an ideal time to drink it. The Pinup vanilla black tea would also be a splendid choice for tea drinkers that want to enjoy the benefits of black tea but are not fond of strong and robust flavours. That said, this tea is extremely flavourful, but in a very sophisticated and complex way.</p>

<p>The Pinup vanilla blend is available as loose tea and in pyramid <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/tea-bags/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with tea bags">tea bags</a> for easier steeping.</p>

Custard <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/milk/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with milk">milk</a> tea is one of the easiest milk teas you can make, and it tastes absolutely delicious. Learn how to make it from a scratch in 10 minutes.</p>
<h2>What is Custard Milk Tea?</h2>
<p>Delicious drinks often happen by a chance (we&#8217;ll talk about this soon). The world of milk teas is evolving faster than ever, and new flavours are available almost daily. Custard milk tea is a tea you absolutely must try if you love milky teas. A drink with a similar name but a very different personality is a custard boba milk tea. It&#8217;s made with custard pudding topping, and usually a black milk tea base. This milk tea is a completely different drink.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1873" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1873" style="width: 1024px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-1873" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-jpg.webp" alt="Custard Milk Tea" width="1024" height="683" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-jpg.webp 1024w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-jpg-600x400.webp 600w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-300x200.webp 300w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-768x512.webp 768w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-450x300.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-225x150.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-900x600.webp 900w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-20x13.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/milk-tea-bubbles-144x96.webp 144w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1873" class="wp-caption-text">© All That Tea</figcaption></figure>
<p>It&#8217;s a milk tea made with <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with black tea">black tea</a>, milk, water, vanilla extract and corn starch to enhance the texture. Think about a cup of hot chocolate and you&#8217;ll get the idea. Milk teas have a much lighter texture than chocolate, and whichever milk you use, it still won&#8217;t be as creamy. The solution is actually quite simple – use a thickener.</p>
<h3>How creamy should Custard Milk Tea be?</h3>
<p>Using eggs is what makes custard creamy and rich. There are many benefits of using other ingredients instead and make an eggless custard. A great alternative to eggs is corn starch. It won&#8217;t influence the flavour of the tea but will help thicken it.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1869" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1869" style="width: 683px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1869 size-full" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/custard-milk-tea-jpg.webp" alt="Custard milk tea" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/custard-milk-tea-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/custard-milk-tea-jpg-600x900.webp 600w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/custard-milk-tea-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/custard-milk-tea-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/custard-milk-tea-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/custard-milk-tea-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/custard-milk-tea-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1869" class="wp-caption-text">© All That Tea</figcaption></figure>
<p>While custard milk tea is creamy and thicker than regular milk tea, it should not be as thick as the real custard. The goal is to achieve the same flavour profile and better texture, without turning it into a thick cream.</p>
<h2>Which tea should I use?</h2>
<p>To make this milk tea, choose unflavoured strong teas with naturally mellow deep flavour. Assam with hints of chocolate or Dian Hong <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">black tea</a> will work great. Because of a natural sweetness, a stronger <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/white-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with white tea">white tea</a> is another great option. To make a caffeine-free drink, you can use red rooibos tea. Using more tea leaves rather than simmering them longer will offer a richer flavour will less bitterness. To get the best possible flavour, choose teas that are not overly bitter, and are made of a higher grade tea leaves.</p>
<h2>Which sweetener should I use?</h2>
<p>Simmering tea leaves will usually release more bitterness, so there&#8217;s a high probability you will need some sweetener even if you usually drink tea with no condiments. Custard is usually made with regular granulated white sugar. You can use a light brown sugar too, or a neutral sugar alternative. One teaspoon will usually be enough, but you can adjust the sweetness to suit your taste.</p>

			<p>There&#8217;s a certain dose of wickedness in mixing two of the favourite morning drinks – coffee and tea. <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/coffee-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with coffee tea">Coffee tea</a> may not be everyone&#8217;s cup of tea, but if you like the idea, this blend is worth trying. Vanilla Tiramisu tea is, in fact, nothing like a cup of espresso tea.</p>
<p>What is it like?</p>
<h2>What is Vanilla Tiramisu?</h2>
<p>Vanilla Tiramisu is a flavoured blend from <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/bloom-teas/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Bloom Teas">Bloom Teas</a>, crafted to pay respect to the popular Italian dessert. It contains Sri Lankan <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/">black tea</a>, cocoa shells, <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/coffee-tea/">coffee beans</a>, cinnamon, calendula petals, sunflower petals, vanilla pieces, and natural vanilla flavouring. A whole lot of ingredients for one tea bag, but yet there are all there and you can see them all – even a coffee bean. Bloom Teas uses non-plastic pyramidal bags, so you can see all the ingredients clearly – beautiful huge cocoa shells, whole coffee beans, pretty <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with black tea">black tea</a> and all the petals. The first thing we noticed? That it has an amazin scent.</p>

<h2>How to Espresso Black Tea?</h2>
<p>To keep truthful to the name, we brewed Vanilla Tiramisu tea in smaller cups – only 100 ml. And that seems like the perfect cup for this tea. 2 grams per tea bag may not be a lot of tea, so to get the best flavour, using less water may be a good idea.</p>
<p>The first infusion was steeped at 2.5 minutes at nearly boiling water.</p>
<p>And… it&#8217;s extremely nice – well rounded, creamy, with just enough cocoa and coffee notes to give you a feeling you are drinking a liquid dessert. Cocoa is prevalent – just like a first bite of a delicious tiramisu dusted with fine cocoa powder. Plus, it doesn&#8217;t get bitter as it cools down.</p>
<p>Base of this tea is a Sri Lankan tea, which is generally lighter than strong Assams, and a great base for this blend.</p>
<p>We kept the second infusion at 5 minutes. Longer steeping brought out less cocoa and more coffee notes, with a tiny spicy touch. But not of spices, though, more like the spiciness of black tea and coffee. It&#8217;s deeper and stronger, but still light enough to be enjoyed with no condiments.</p>
<p>Both infusions have pretty, dark copper and transparent colour and a refreshing lightness – just like a real tiramisu.</p>
<p>Although Vanilla Tiramisu tea is nothing like a cup of strong dark espresso, it makes a great afternoon tea, especially if you want to replace coffee. Regardless of the lightness, brewed with 2 <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/tea-bags/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with tea bags">tea bags</a>, it would be great as a latte too. We see it as a great daily office blend or an afternoon treat.</p>
