<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ingredients for making Peanut Butter and Jelly drink</h2>

<p><b>Peanut butter:</b> Peanut butter is a key ingredient in making this recipe. Rather than using a regular peanut butter, opt for the powder instead. Powder is not as greasy and melts really well in liquids. It&#8217;s available from <a href="https://amzn.to/45bSuHP" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Amazon</a> and online fitness stores.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-jpg.webp" alt="Peanut butter powder" class="wp-image-3177" style="width:550px" width="550" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p><b>Fruits:</b> you&#8217;ll need 100 grams of red currants, raspberries or strawberries or other fruits of your choice. Different fruits will have different levels of sweetness and sourness, so adjust the sugar content if needed. You want a sweet, rather than a sour flavour.</p>

<p><b>Agar agar:</b> Agar agar is a vegan friendly alternative to gelatine, and it&#8217;s very easy to use. It can be used for thickening jams instead of pectin. Do not add too much as you want a jam rather than jelly consistency. Agar agar will set fast.</p>

<p><b><a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with black tea">Black tea</a>:</b> Use a stronger black tea with toasty, nutty, chocolaty or malty notes. Assam tea will usually work great in this recipe. Other good choices are Yunnan black tea and regular breakfast blends. Loose tea will often offer a more refined flavour profile and less murkiness and bitterness. However, if you have good quality black tea in tea bags, you can use them too. Use 1 heaped teaspoon of loose tea or 1-2 tea bags, depending on the strength. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><b>Milk:</b> Full fat or while milk is the best choice for making milk teas, as it will have a nicer texture than semi-skimmed or skimmed milk. Vegan friendly milk alternatives such as oat milk, almond milk or cashew milk all have a good flavour profile for this recipe.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-jpg.webp" alt="peanut butter jelly drink" class="wp-image-3474" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-jpg.webp 1024w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-300x200.webp 300w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-768x512.webp 768w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-450x300.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-225x150.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-900x600.webp 900w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-20x13.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-iced-tea-recipe-144x96.webp 144w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Steps for making Peanut Butter Jelly milk tea</h2>

<p><b>Make a jelly:</b> To make a jelly, add fruits and water into a saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain after 15 minutes into a clean saucepan, to remove fruit chunks. Add sugar and simmer until it dissolves. Add agar agar and simmer for a few minutes.</p>

<p><b>Combine milk and peanut butter powder:</b> In a saucepan, combine milk and peanut butter powder and simmer while stirring. Do not let it boil. You can use a frother to improve the texture but remove the froth before pouring it into a serving glass. &nbsp;</p>

<p><b>Make the tea:</b> Bring water to a boil and steep tea for 5 minutes in boiling water. Don&#8217;t over-steep it to avoid bitterness and murkiness. If you want to achieve a layered look, do not add any sugar to tea.</p>

<p><b>Assemble the drink:</b> Start by adding a layer of jelly. Pour it while it&#8217;s still hot. Then add ice and pour milk with peanut butter powder. Add more ice if needed. Pour the tea straight onto ice.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-tea-recipe-jpg.webp" alt="summr milk tea" class="wp-image-3476" style="width:550px" width="550" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-tea-recipe-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-tea-recipe-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-tea-recipe-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-tea-recipe-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-tea-recipe-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/peanut-butter-jelly-tea-recipe-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can I use regular jam instead of making it?</h2>

<p>Yes, you can use regular jam. However, when making the bottom layer yourself, you&#8217;ll get a consistency that&#8217;s closer to a thick syrup. A bit of agar agar will thicken it further without the need to use too much sugar.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can I add boba pearls to this milk tea?</h2>

<p>If you want to turn this peanut butter and jelly drink into a boba tea, add jelly, rather than boba pearls. When making a jelly, simply add more agar agar and pour it into a mould. Once it sets, cut it into smaller cubes and add to the drink after adding milk with peanut butter and ice.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Peanut Butter?</h2>

<p>Frothy and creamy latte is always a good idea. However, if you are conscious of the nutritional value of your food and drinks, sometimes your options are limited. This is especially true if you are following a specific training regime and trying to meet your daily protein intake goals.</p>

<p>So, what makes this latte special?</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Contains more protein than regular lattes.</li>

<li>It has a richer and more indulgent texture.</li>

<li>Tastes absolutely delicious.</li>
</ul>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ingredients for making a Peanut Butter Latte</h2>

<p><b>Peanut butter powder</b> – <a href="https://amzn.to/3A9WcDL" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">peanut butter powder</a> is a relatively new product. It has less fat than a regular peanut butter and it&#8217;s a wonderful choice for making lattes and other drinks. Another benefit is that it will dissolve well and won&#8217;t add a layer of fat to your tea. It&#8217;s amazing to add not only flavour to lattes, but protein and fibre as well. </p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-jpg.webp" alt="Peanut butter powder" class="wp-image-3177" width="500" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-jpg.webp 683w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-200x300.webp 200w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-450x675.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-225x337.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-20x30.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/peanutbutter-powder-64x96.webp 64w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><a href="https://amzn.to/3A9WcDL" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>Tru-Nut Peanut Butter Powder</em></a></figcaption></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p><b><a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/black-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with black tea">Black tea</a></b> – Choose stronger black tea with smaller leaves. Types with a slightly smoky and malty flavour and black teas with chocolate and nutty notes may all be great for making this latte. You want a strong tea that will add flavour too, not only caffeine. Teas with broken leaves will usually release more flavour and caffeine.</p>

<p><b>Milk</b> – Full-fat milk is always the best choice for lattes, as it will give a beautiful silky foam and good texture. However, you can replace regular dairy milk with a milk alternative. Barista style milk alternatives tend to have a thicker texture, but check if it has any added sugars. Check out these <a href="https://allthattea.com/tea-and-milk-5-milk-alternatives-for-tea/">5 milk alternatives for tea</a>.</p>

<p><b>Caramel sauce</b> – using caramel sauce instead of regular sugar or honey will make this latte truly indulgent. You can use a regular caramel sauce, caramel syrup or a skinny caramel syrup and other sugar alternatives. An extra tip? Add a pinch of salt.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Instructions for making a Peanut Butter Latte</h2>

<p><b>Brewing the tea</b> – When making any <a href="https://allthattea.com/tag/milk-tea/" class="st_tag internal_tag " rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with milk tea">milk tea</a>, it&#8217;s best to start with a strong tea base. This means you&#8217;ll need to make a stronger tea than usually. Use 2 teaspoons of black tea leaves and steep for 5 minutes. Use either a teapot, an infuser or disposable paper filters.</p>

<p><b>Mixing all ingredients</b> – add peanut butter powder and caramel syrup before adding milk. Stir it well so you don&#8217;t need to stir it after adding frothed milk. Otherwise, froth will get mixed with other ingredients.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-jpg.webp" alt="Black tea " class="wp-image-3174" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-jpg.webp 1024w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-300x200.webp 300w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-768x512.webp 768w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-450x300.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-225x150.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-900x600.webp 900w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-20x13.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/homemade-peanut-butter-latte-144x96.webp 144w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p><b>Frothing the milk</b> – there are several ways to froth the milk. You can either use a steam wand on your coffee machine, a special milk steamer or a saucepan and an electric hand frother. Alternatively, heat the milk in a microwave for 1-2 minutes (depending on the watts) and froth it with an electric hand frother. However, you will get the silkiest foam if you do it either in a saucepan over low heat or using a coffee machine steam wand or a milk steamer. &nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to choose the best black tea?</h2>

<p>When using black tea as a base for making drinks, it&#8217;s crucial to choose the right type.</p>

<p>Black tea is an oxidised type of tea that contains antioxidants, caffeine, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. While all black teas share the same beneficial compounds, each of them will have a different flavour.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-jpg.webp" alt="Chelsea breakfast tea" class="wp-image-3180" srcset="https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-jpg.webp 1024w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-300x200.webp 300w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-768x512.webp 768w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-450x300.webp 450w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-225x150.webp 225w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-900x600.webp 900w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-20x13.webp 20w, https://allthattea.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/chelsea-breakfast-loose-tea-144x96.webp 144w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em><a href="https://tidd.ly/3GRESHm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chelsea Breakfast black tea blend</a></em></figcaption></figure></div>

<p>And it&#8217;s the flavour that will either make or break your drink. So, how to choose the best black tea?</p>

<p>Broken loose tea is a brilliant choice because it will infuse into a stronger tea than whole unbroken leaves and offer a more complex and clean flavour.</p>

<p>Next, check the colour. If it has a light orange colour, it may not be the best choice. Deeper dark copper red or red-brown teas will work the best.</p>

<p>And finally, look for the flavour that pairs well with caramel and nuts:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Chocolate notes</li>

<li>Lighter smoky notes</li>

<li>Malty notes</li>

<li>Nutty notes</li>

<li>Earthy notes</li>

<li>Sweet notes</li>
</ul>

<p>Our choice? <a href="https://tidd.ly/3GRESHm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chelsea Breakfast</a> black tea blend from Whittard made with Sri Lankan and Kenyan black tea.</p>
